FY12 Community Grants
Community Impact: The collaborative process of making lasting change toward shared community goals.
A critical piece of the community impact model will continue to be community grants to programs that show results. United Way of Windham County has completed its first round of community grant-making using the community impact model. All applicants were asked to align their program requests to the target outcomes and use a new online application system that will allow for program outcome tracking and impact measurement. Organizations were invited to include a maximum of three programs in their application.
UWWC received applications from 18 organizations (four new to United Way of Windham County) for 27 programs related to education (7 programs), income (12 programs), and health (8 programs) outcomes. Through a thorough review, including finance, governance, and community impact, the pool of successful applicants was reduced to 22 programs (5 education, 11 income, and 6 health) from 16 organizations (three new to United Way), totaling $131,709 of funding from January – June 2012.
The Community Impact Teams of volunteers in the areas of Education, Income, and Health, as well as members of our Community Investment Committee, will have an ongoing role in building relationships, partnerships, collaborations, and resources through which United Way of Windham County will build meaningful strategies to achieve our community outcomes.
