BRATTLEBORO, Vt. - At its 2011 Annual meeting on Wednesday,
September 28th, the Board of Directors of the United Way of
Windham County elected four new members: Sharon Dunn Gordon,
Pam Matweecha, Michael McKenney, and Anne Weinberg.
"These new members represent diverse professional backgrounds
and, together, their skills and expertise will further
strengthen United Way's Board of Directors," said Board Chair
Bahman Mahdavi. "We are fortunate to have access to such a
talented group of people, especially as we are looking at
another difficult year of economic hardship," continued Mahdavi.
Pam Matweecha has been a Vermont resident for 25 years. Pam has
been in the financial services business since 1992, serving
customers with various financial needs. Presently, she serves
as the Community Banking Manager of Merchants Bank in
Brattleboro, offering mortgages, small business and consumer
loans, retail and business accounts. Pam currently serves as
Vice President of the Merchants Bank Foundation, Treasurer of
the Putney Bike Club, and as a member of the Latchis Corporation
board.
Michael McKenney and his wife, Lisa, a teacher at Vernon
Elementary School, have lived in the area for 20 years, with the
last 14 in Vernon. He has a daughter in Vernon Elementary and
a son that attends BAMS. Mike has a background in engineering
and business and is currently the Emergency Preparedness Manager
at Vermont Yankee. Mike has previously been a member of the
Vernon Selectboard and is a member of St. Michaels Church.
Anne Weinberg moved to Brattleboro five years ago with her
husband Adam and their three children: Margaret, Nathan and
Abigail. She brought with her a background in marketing and
nonprofit development that she has used to get involved in a
variety of Brattleboro activities, most recently on the
Development Committee of the Hilltop Montessori School. Prior to
moving to Brattleboro, Anne had served as Director of Marketing
for Ferris Industries and Director of Operations and founding
partner of Democracy Matters. She currently serves as Director
of Marketing for Oak Meadow School and Curriculum.
The mission of the United Way of Windham County is to improve
lives by mobilizing the caring power of the community. Working
with volunteers, donors, service providers, businesses, and
other stakeholders, United Way of Windham County assures a
viable community-wide, human services infrastructure for Windham
