2018 Adult Dental Care Day Thanks

United Way of Windham County wishes to thank the 71 medical and non-medical volunteers who made this year’s eighth annual Adult Dental Care Day on Saturday, May 5 a huge success. Over 100 Windham County residents received essential dental care from seven participating dental practices.

Thank you to the Brattleboro Elks Lodge #1499 for again providing our triage site at which Dr. Peter Abell and hygienists Sarah Noble and Susan Rand screened participants. A big thank you to the participating nurses at the triage site, Kathleen White, Marilyn Gill, and Dianne Champion, who along with Rescue, Inc. ensured that all participants were prepared for treatment. The following dental offices provided over $53,500 worth of pro bono dental care: Connecticut Valley Oral Surgery, Deerfield Valley Dental Care, Dental Health, Estey Dental, Professional Dental Care, Dr. Suzanne West, and West River Family Dental.

A huge round of applause to Mary White who helped transport many of the participants to the dental offices and to Hannah Buffum and Karen Wilber of Deerfield Valley Dental Care who handled the dispatch duties and communication with all dental practices with ease and skill!

We would also like to thank Vermont 2-1-1 for their support, as well as financial and in-kind sponsors Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, Brattleboro Orthodontic Specialists, Brattleboro Sunrise Rotary, C & S Wholesale Grocers, Northeast Delta Dental, and The Agnes M. Lindsay Trust.

United Way is committed to increasing access to oral health care among Windham County residents and appreciates all who have helped make Adult Dental Care Day successful since 2008 – you are helping to bring HOPE to Windham County.
