Free Tax Prep: End of Season Press Release

April 17, 2018

United Way of Windham County (UWWC) would like to thank their volunteers for a successful VITA 2018 season. Through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program and MYFREETAXES, our volunteers worked with over 440 households to garner over $754,000 in refunds for our community.

We could not have accomplished this without the dedication and hard work of our volunteer tax preparers, schedulers and site greeters. We would like to acknowledge the following individuals: Valerie Abrahamson, Celina Ayers, Bob Bashford, Dianne Champion, Lisa Dixon, Dave Grady, Michael Hertz, Kate John, Doug Kroc, Celine LaCroix, Chloe Learey, Peg Lopata, Fred Moriarty, Jonathan Neurock, Karen Peterson, Marilyn McQuaide, Pete Sherlock, Sue Sherlock, Marie Tattersall, Linda Tummino, Erik Valdes, and Mary White.

Thank you to the following businesses and organizations that supported their employees in volunteering for our program: River Valley Credit Union, Winston Prouty Center for Children & Families, Brattleboro Retreat, The AIDS Project of Southern VT, and Fitts Olsen & Giddings.

In addition we would like to thank the Brattleboro Retreat for hosting our VITA site this year.

Interested in volunteering in our community? VITA is one of many volunteer opportunities for individuals to offer their talents to build a more vibrant community. To view other Windham County volunteer opportunities visit us at www.unitedwaywindham.org.
