Welcome Robert Sims to our Board of Directors!

Robert Sims, Board of Directors United Way of Windham County

The United Way of Windham County is pleased to welcome Robert Sims to our Board of Directors. Sims, who recently joined the community as President and CEO of Brattleboro Savings & Loan (BS&L), brings over three decades of extensive banking leadership and a deep-seated commitment to local economic development to the organization.

"We are honored to have Robert join our board," said Colleen Savage, Marketing & Community Engagement Manager at United Way of Windham County. "His professional philosophy—that a bank is fundamentally defined by its connections to people—perfectly aligns with our mission to improve lives and strengthen the Windham County community."

Sims joins the Board with a distinguished career spanning operations, retail, and marketing within the financial sector. Most recently serving as the Senior Vice President of Retail Services at Greylock Federal Credit Union in Massachusetts, he has long championed the importance of community banking.

"Where we bank matters tremendously to the local economy," noted Sims. "When we bank locally, 100% of those dollars are reinvested back into our community and become loans that allow our neighbors to buy homes here, run their businesses, and create jobs here."

Sims, who has expressed a profound personal affinity for Vermont, views his new role at both BS&L and the United Way as a homecoming. As a leader known for his open, servant-leadership style, he is expected to play a vital role in helping the United Way continue to grow its impact across the region.

"Robert’s track record of helping community banks succeed against large, out-of-state competitors makes him an invaluable asset to our efforts," added Executive Director, Rebecca Baruzzi. "His expertise will be instrumental as we continue to foster deeper engagement and agility in our community initiatives."
