Since April 2018, Chef Chris Parker from NewBrook Elementary School has been dedicating his time to provide free meals for students and adults in his community. With locally grown food, Chris is serving homemade breakfast and lunch that is available for every student in his school regardless of their income level. Chris estimates that this program can save families $30 to $40 per week on grocery bills, along with benefits such as decreasing student absentee rates and decreasing behavioral problems in students. Parker looks to expand this program by feeding as many people as possible, and encourages the public to go to the next monthly NewBrook Community Meal on October 12th with a suggested donation of $3.75.
