9th ANNUAL DAY OF CARING CELEBRATES LOCAL SUPERHEROES

BRATTLEBORO, VT – At the United Way of Windham County, caring is your super power. They are looking for local volunteers from area towns, companies, schools and civic organizations to participate in volunteer service projects across Windham County on Saturday, September 22nd, from 9am - noon for its 9th annual Day of Caring.

Day of Caring “superheroes” can choose from a variety of volunteer projects, using their super powers to help local organizations who serve our community everyday with important services from early childcare to homelessness and food insecurity. Last year, over 400 hours of volunteer time was logged in one day – an extraordinary demonstration of the caring super power of our community!

It’s time to put on your cape! The day will begin 8:00 a.m. with a kick-off breakfast at the American Legion in Brattleboro. Then, from 9am to noon, superhero volunteers, dressed in their finest United Way t-shirts, will spread out to sites throughout Windham County to provide volunteer services.

“The Day of Caring is an easy way to feel like you're doing something lovely for your community in a relatively short amount of time. We always meet new people and learn about new local non-profit organizations,” said a volunteer from 2016’s Day of Caring, with another adding, “It's my favorite event of the year!”
